hitokage's writing corner
stuff i changed in the last two weeks that was way too much for the changelog box so here's a blog post instead
2 min read
ok so for the past two weeks, i've mostly been coding pages and messing with the css to get everything looking right. i kinda wrote the content first, then went back to add details like images, decorations, etc. at first, i had this cute bg image, but i got sick of it real fast lol, so i switched to the one i'm using now. problem is, this new bg is a darker green, which meant i had to go through and change all the link colors, titles, borders... a whole mess.
after that, i felt like fixing some stuff that had been bothering me. first, my shrine page. i hated how it turned out. my biggest issue with this sidebar template is that i have to put different stuff in it for every page (yeah, i could just copy-paste the same layout, but even i have standards). so yeah, i fixed that. also made the manga/book pages in my reading log way simpler.
then, i wanted a page where i could post random stuff without a character limit. super happy with how this "blog" page looks. kept it simple, just like i wanted. just don't expect it to be a real blog. it's basically just twitter without the social media, the character limit, and, most importantly, elon musk.
also had this idea to add floating boxes to the pokémon shrine page, but it didn't look how i imagined, so now they're just stacked. it's fine, i kinda like it tbh. oh, and i added jigglypuff because why not.
BIG NEWS: i made new 88x31 buttons!!!!!! huge win for me because 1. i had no clue how to make cute ones, 2. what font even looks good at that size??? 3. why do mine always look worse than everyone else's??? but i finally figured it out and i love how they turned out.
the sites i like + their buttons used to be on my favorites page, but that page layout sucked, so i deleted it and gave them their own space. way better. plus, now i have a place to put my own buttons too.
after some minor changes, i ended up with a blank space on the main page, so i threw in a "last update" and a "visitor count" to fill it. no clue if the visitor count even works on other people's computers, but let's just hope.
final update: i finally cleaned up my code. yeah, i know, sounds boring. but trust me, i learned the hard way that keeping your html and css organized is a must. mine was an absolute disaster, plus i was using way too much inline css (bad idea). fixed it though, and now i feel like a responsible nerd-webmaster-artist.
so yeah, that's pretty much it. probably forgot something, but whatever. still got a few things i wanna change, but i'll try to actually log my updates next time instead of dumping them all here lol.
